God Is Love — He Draws You Closer
Love is one of the most powerful words in the Bible, revealing something profound about who God is. The Scriptures do not simply say that God shows love — they tell us that God is love.
God’s love is different from the love we often experience in the world. Human love can sometimes be conditional, depending on feelings, circumstances, or expectations. But God’s love is steady, patient, and unchanging. It does not disappear when we struggle, and it does not grow weaker when we fail.
Instead, God’s love reaches toward us. It invites us closer, offering grace, forgiveness, and a new beginning. No matter where we are in life, His love continues to call us back to Him.
This truth is clearly written in First Epistle of John 4:8:
“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
God’s love is not distant or reserved only for a few people. It reaches every heart. It welcomes the broken, the searching, and those who simply long for peace. His love invites us into a relationship with Him.
One of the most well-known verses in Scripture expresses the depth of this love. In Gospel of John 3:16, we read:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
God’s love is sacrificial. He gave what was most precious so that we could be restored to Him. This love is not based on our achievements or perfection. Instead, it flows from God’s compassionate heart.
Another powerful reminder appears in the Epistle to the Romans 5:8:
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Even when we feel unworthy or distant, God continues to reach out. His love draws us closer, gently inviting us to trust Him.
